LC Energy purchases all its own timber from local, sustainable and renewable woodland sources in close proximity to its production hubs. We purchase timber and wood pellets but not wood chip to ensure quality management and control is maintained.

Our annual timber requirement is approximately 50,000 tonnes of virgin wood through one-off sales or long term index linked agreements and using the following criteria:

• Timber species - predominantly softwood

• Timber type – round-wood

• Timber size – c2.5m in length (i.e. suitable for road haulage), diameter: 10cm to 75cm

• Sustainability audit trail - copy of necessary consents for relevant felling (e.g. Forestry Commission felling licence)

• Point of purchase – standing timber, collected at ride-side or delivered to our hubs

• Timber services – woodland management and planning, timber harvesting and haulage

• Timber quantities – minimum 50 tonnes per order (in 25 tonnes loads)
