Recently, LC Energy won a 5-year biomass boiler engineering contract with Godalming Leisure Centre in Surrey in conjunction with Places for People Leisure and Waverly Borough Council. The Leisure Centre is a relatively modern development, opened in 2012. It offers swimming, gym and other sporting facilities, and from the start has used biomass heating. The renewable energy source is one of the ways Surrey County Council have ‘committed to reducing their carbon footprint by encouraging the use of biomass technologies.’ In addition, the council will receive payments through the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme, which rewards domestic and non-domestic customers for using renewable energy sources through providing subsidies and grants paid quarterly over a 7 to 20-year period.
LC Energy’s contract with Godalming Leisure Centre includes both planned and reactive maintenance: one major service, one interim service, and one flue clean per annum, in addition to call-out support. The first major service took place a few weeks ago. In addition to engineering, since 2012, we have supplied Godalming Leisure Centre with a reliable source of wood fuel. This involves monitoring fuel levels, and delivering when supplies are sufficiently depleted. A quick turnaround for delivery ensures that the fuel store is never fully empty. In addition, fuel quality checks and monthly RAG reports are carried out so Godalming remain informed and in control of their heating, and the performance of both boiler and fuel.
Godalming Leisure Centre follow in the footsteps of Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, and Birtley House Care Home in Bramley, who both continue to use biomass boilers, with wood fuel supplied by LC Energy. For more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
