By supporting local timber growers, we are investing in both the woodland management cycle and the longevity of Britain’s woodlands and forests.
We bring value to a much under-utilised and renewable source. We purchase FSC certified timber from locally managed woodlands at a competitive and indexed price in line with woodland management and responsible harvesting. We require around 50,000 tonnes of virgin wood each year and with 5, 10 and 15-year wood fuel contracts we can support timber suppliers by guaranteeing demand in the long term.
LC Energy conforms to the Forest Mensuration Handbook for timber measurements. We provide all of the services required from the cutting, extraction and haulage and can accept timber delivered into our hubs, or it can be stacked at rideside for up to 12 months before collection and delivery to our hub for chipping.
LC Energy will consider all timber species, however if Western Red Cedar is present LC Energy must be informed in advance. We will not accept timber that is contaminated with non woody material (e.g. metal), timber infected with Phytophthora ramorum and timber infected with Oak processionary moth (OPM).
All timber must be safely and neatly stacked next to a road suitable for lorry access and must not be stacked under power or phone wires or over the top of services such as: gas or electricity.
