The Rt Hon Lord Benyon visits LC Energy’s Albury Wood Fuel Depot on Surrey Hills National Landscape Visit

On the 1st February 2022, the Surrey Hills National Landscape hosted The Rt Hon Lord Benyon, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, the Government Minister for Rural Affairs, Access to Nature and Biosecurity, for a day of landscape and community engagement. The Rt Hon Lord Benyon met with local businesses, land managers and partners across the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one of 46 nationally protected landscapes in the UK.

The Surrey Hills Board is a Joint Management Committee which is funded by Defra, the National Trust, Surrey County Council and the local authorities within the Surrey Hills area. Mark Lebus as an ambassador of the Surrey Hills Enterprises and Chairman and CEO of LC Energy Ltd, welcomed The Rt Hon Lord Benyon to LC Energy’s local Albury Wood Fuel Depot, one of many wood fuel depots LC Energy operates across the South East of England.

LC Energy is a leading specialist in biomass energy solutions including wood fuel supply, biomass system design, installation, maintenance and sustainability consultancy services.

At LC Energy we work with leading forestry professionals and landowners to ensure all of our timber is sourced entirely from local and sustainably harvested, virgin wood. All of our timber is FSC certified or holds a Forestry Commission licence from local woodland management schemes that promote and encourage better woodland growth, increased biodiversity, rural economic development and – importantly – long term renewable timber resources.

With over 15 years’ experience and thousands of private and commercial clients from care homes to global hotel groups and international airports, LC Energy continues to support local timber growers, the woodland management cycle and the longevity of Britain’s woodlands and forests.

The Minister’s visit started at Chinhurst Hill, an evaluation area of the Surrey Hills boundary extension and moved on to several sites across the Surrey Hills including Albury Estate, Silent Pool, Newlands Corner, North Down Way National Trail and the LC Energy Albury Wood Fuel Depot. The Rt Hon Lord Benyon’s visit finished at the Albury Organic Vineyard for lunch, giving him the opportunity to meet many more local business owners.
