RENEWABLE HEAT
INCENTIVE (RHI)

The financial support scheme is designed to encourage people to use renewable heat technologies, to cut carbon emissions, help meet the 2020 renewables target and save money on fuel bills.

Renewable Heat
Incentive (RHI)

The world’s first long-term financial support programme for renewable heat. The government launched the Renewable Heat Incentive in November 2011 with a scheme for the non-domestic sector that provides payments to industry, businesses, public sector organisations as well as heat networks. The Renewable Heat Incentive is the main scheme of heat strategy and pays participants of the scheme that generate and use renewable energy to heat their buildings.

By increasing the generation of heat from renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels, the RHI helps the UK reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet the target for reducing the effect of climate change.

For more information about the RHI scheme, including eligibility and how to apply visit GOV.UK.

Non-Domestic
Incentive (RHI)

The non-domestic RHI was launched to allow business owners to benefit from funding when installing a renewable heating systems in commercial, public or industrial premises. The scheme is designed to encourage people to use renewable heat technologies, to cut carbon emissions, help meet the 2020 renewables target and save money on fuel bills.

Tarrifs & Payments

For further information on the non-domestic RHI and the non-domestic RHI tariffs visit the Ofgem website.

Eligibility & Requirements

To be eligible for non-domestic RHI payments you must have installed one of the following renewable heating systems;

  • Small commercial biomass less than 20kWTH
  • Medium commercial biomass above 200kWTH less than 1MWTH
  • Large commercial biomass 1MWTH and above

Where appropriate your renewable heating system must have been installed by an MCS accredited installer and must be new at the time of installation. You must ensure that you have the right metering set up for your system to guarantee quarterly payments.

Domestic
RHI

The Domestic RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) was launched in April 2014 allowing home-owners to benefit from funding when installing a renewable heating system. The scheme is designed to encourage people to use renewable heat technologies in their homes to cut carbon emissions, help meet the 2020 renewables target and save money on fuel bills.

Tarrifs & Payments

To receive the RHI traffic for biomass systems the fuel that is used must be BSL accredited, this is the standard for sustainable sourced wood fuel. All of the wood fuel LC Energy supplies is BSL accredited, more information can be found at Biomass Suppliers List website.

Eligibility & Requirements

The scheme is available for home-owners that are both on and off gas grid. People that own the homes they live in, private and registered social landlords and self-builders can all apply. Anyone who has installed a renewable heat technology since the 15th July 2009 and meets the criteria is able to apply.

To be eligible for domestic RHI payments you must have installed one of the following renewable heating systems;

• Biomass only boilers and biomass pellet stoves.
• Air source heat pumps.
