On Thursday 3rd March, students from the University of Surrey, Centre for Environment and Sustainability along with Professor Richard Murphy visited LC Energy for their annual trip.
Ellie Newman, LC Energy’s Sustainability & Marketing Co-coordinator, started the trip with a in depth talk at LC Energy’s Head Office outlining LC Energy’s management systems, product and service specifications, accreditations, woodland management, auditing processes including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
The talk also gave a broad overview of the UK biomass industry, the necessity for sustainable woodland management, improving air quality, reducing our environmental impact and advocating the utilisation for using biomass to decarbonise heat.
Following the talk the students made their way to one of LC Energy’s local wood fuel distribution depots, where Sophie Devoy, LC Energy’s Operations Manager addressed how the environment has a significant impact on operations.
LC Energy would like to thank everyone who came and we look forward to next year’s trip.
