LC Energy were extremely pleased to take Dianne Sanders and her team from Heathrow Airport Limited and UK Power Networks to plant a tranquillity Garden At Ufton Court Englefield Estate, under the guidance of their Head Forrester Rich Edwards.
The day started with a detailed talk on woodland management from Head Forrester Rich Edwards on a area of woodland within Englefield Estate. Throughout the talk we were able to watch large spruce trees being felled, have the branches stripped and cut into logs in the space of a few minutes, loaded onto a forwarder and then loaded on to a lorry for transportation.
The main part of the day involved the enthusiastic team working in a woodland to create a tranquillity garden to be used by Ufton Court Educational Trust. We were split into two groups, where one lifted and thinned a woodland area whilst the other planted what had been lifted to form the tranquillity garden.
After a deserved lunch, we were taken on a private tour of the Englefield House Gardens that even included a tour of where the house grows their own produce.
This is the sixth woodland management event organised by LC Energy for Heathrow and it was great to see some old faces as well as a few new ones.
