University Of Surrey Visit LC Energy Wood Fuel Depot

On Thursday 2nd March, students from the University of Surrey, Centre for Environment and Sustainability and course Professor Walter Wehrmeyer visited LC Energy for their annual trip to learn about our operations and management processes.

The visit started at our head office in Gomshall, based in the surrey hills, with an in depth talk delivered by Andrew Mclauchlan our Site & Stock Operative, Grace Francis our Sustainability Executive and Amy White our Marketing Manager.

The presentation covered LC Energy’s services, operations, management systems, accreditations, product specifications, woodland management and auditing processes including both ISO 9001 as well as ISO 14001. There was also a focus on how we are reducing our carbon impact and LC Energy’s target to reach carbon neutrality by 2025, net zero by 2030. The talk also gave a broad overview of the UK biomass industry and how biomass is key in the decarbonisation of heat to reach the UK Governments 2050 Net Zero target.

Following the talk the students made their way to one of LC Energy’s local wood fuel distribution depots, where Andrew addressed how the environment has a significant impact on our wood fuel operations.

We would like to thank everyone who came and we look forward to next year’s trip.
